This is the amazing but true story of Fred and Susan, and the house that tried, and tried, and tried to save itself from destruction; because it was in the wrong place at the wrong time.  (To jump ahead, the house finally won.)

It's also the story of Fred, who owned a killer wine chiller in the kitchen and several objects de art such as the crawl space and the skylight in the upper bedroom.  Although he tried, and tried, and tried; Fred could not force himself to part with those objects of function and beauty.  (Although he tried, and tried, and tried.)

And finally it's story of Susan, who along with Fred, enjoys several houses in Seattle and Spain, and although she tried, and tried, and tried, she really couldn't abandon the house for reasons other than the wine chiller that Fred fell in love with and wanted to keep.

After having been adopted by Fred and Susan the house grew to feel comfortable with life and happy with its lodgers.  It was an idyllic life for all and came the day when it said "I want to stay in your lives forever; or until a suitable replacement family can be found."

But alas, the City of Seattle wanted the property the house resides on for a park and began the process to evict the house from the land it had been born on.

So Fred, Susan, and the house talked amongst themselves and decided that the only way to keep themselves and the house happy was to run away and hide.  So it was that the journey of moving one half block began so the house could dwell and hide amongst others of its kind, albeit not as beautiful, but who knows, maybe one if the houses on either side has a wine chiller in the kitchen and they could be friends.

So, here are a few pictures of "The Great Escape" of the house.
